MEDIA RELATIONS, MEDIA TRAINING, PRESS MATERIAL CREATION

OBJECTIVE: Generate media coverage for Afrodyssée for its 6th edition in Geneva


While living in London, I took on PR contracts in and outside the UK. Afrodyssée is a fashion event created in Geneva, which highlights African designers in a 3-day event through a market, runway shows, and conversations between ambassadors of the continent’s culture.


Having no prior knowledge of Switzerland’s media landscape, research was essential to fully grasp its particularities and craft a media list that would target the desired audience. Publications from the designers’ countries of origin were also included in the media list to garner international coverage. I designed a press kit to highlight the designers and artisans present at the event. I also wrote a press release and sent it to the media with a personalized approach by publication.


The coverage received following my PR efforts is the most it had ever garnered, making the 3-day event a success with sold out attendance for the fashion shows and strong sales for the designers and artisans.
